OVERVIEW

Tyler List found his passion early: working with his hands and growing through experience. From his first apprenticeship to his current role as Production Manager at Alliance Construction & Design, he has built a career based on hard work and commitment. Today, Tyler has found a company that values its people, rewards hard work, and gives opportunities to grow.

DISCOVERING A CAREER IN CONSTRUCTION

School was always a challenge for Tyler, but during his freshman year of high school, he realized how much he loved working with his hands—an understanding that changed the course of his career. By sophomore year, Tyler joined an apprenticeship program through school that helped him find his path.

“I could leave school and go to work while getting grades and credits and be paid for it,” Tyler says. “I also got to take a carpenter class at NWTC.”

He had two tracks to choose from: auto mechanics or construction. He picked construction because he was drawn by the variety and thrill of it.

Through the apprenticeship program, Tyler interviewed with Corrigan’s Custom Build Structures. He was just 16 when he was hired, and after graduating, he continued working as a foreman for the next ten years. It was there that he met two people, Mark VerHaagh and Todd Parczick, who would eventually have a huge impact on his career.

When Tyler felt the time was right to find a new job, Todd was the first person he called.

JOINING ALLIANCE

In 2010, Alliance was a new business, which was appealing to Tyler.

“I gave Todd a call and asked about a job,” he says. “He told me to come down to the office right away, so I went and we talked, and I started there two weeks later as a foreman.”

Tyler was looking to grow with a company and knew there would be ample opportunities to do just that with Alliance.

WEARING MANY HATS

Tyler worked his way up from foreman to superintendent, and, in early 2025, he stepped into a completely new role as Production Manager. Moving into the office was a major environmental shift after spending his entire career in the field. It pushed him outside of his comfort zone, but Tyler embraced the challenge.

Tyler has always made himself valuable wherever the team needs him most. Early on, the company needed a certified welder, and Tyler was up for the job. For a period of time, he was one of the only 3G-certified welders at Alliance and is still responsible for the intricate welding done out in the field and the fab shop. He is also skilled at wood framing, steel stud framing, PEMB erection, and finish carpentry and takes pride in diversifying his skills to bring value to every project.

One project he is particularly proud of is the build at Round Lake Farms, which is a stunning wedding venue with timber frames.

“It was a rewarding project because it took a massive team effort to complete by the deadline, and the result was unbelievable,” he says.

EARNING OPPORTUNITIES

Tyler believes in Alliance’s mission and lives out its core values every day. He appreciates how the company has created a team that feels like family while also running a successful business.

“People here are rewarded by merit,” Tyler says. “They strive to hire from within, and I look at myself as a perfect example. I like working here, and there's an opportunity for people who want it. If you can perform, you will be rewarded.”

He credits his success to his hard work ethic.

“The reality is hard work does pay off,” Tyler says. “When I was younger, I watched guys go to the bar on the weekends. I didn't do that stuff. I got home, I took care of my family, and then, on the weekends, I went to work. Every day, I was doing more, learning more, and progressing faster.”

CONCLUSION

Tyler’s journey is the perfect example of what is possible when hard work pays off. Through his strong faith, dedication, and constant drive to grow, he is building a career he is proud of.

“Alliance has given me the chance to grow and provide for my family,” he says.
